Built using the PNP 21mm aluminum profile rail, these points are the culmination of many years experience and knowledge in miniature railway operation and manufacture. Built as a collaboration between MRW and PNP these points use some key PNP components such as PNP PNR-3N chairs but screwed into MRW 60 x 30mm plastic wood and are built here at MRW to our design. The rail has been precisely machined to give a correct gauge and gauge widened where applicable throughout the point blades and crossing (frog).
The blades are interchangeable from one point to another; hence if one is damaged through misuse they can be replaced/renewed. The blades have been precisely machined in house here at MRW to give the best contact area between blade and stock rail as possible whilst maintaining the optimum strength for longevity in the blades.
The key area around the crossing (also known as a frog) and the check rails has been designed to be tied together with our laser cut steel framework. This ensures an accurate gauge in this key area and significantly reduces the risk of the points warping through years of use, reducing the opportunity for derailments. The nose is a laser cut steel construction meaning it is relatively hard wearing and also replaceable again if the component is damaged or misused.
The points are designed to be extremely free moving, as the aluminum blades rest on nylon pads, which give negligible resistance and ensure that the best possible trailing functionality is achieved.
