These power bogies sit under the 7¼” gauge Titan locos and are a logical development of the tested Phoenix design. They are equally at home under a tram or other Bo-Bo loco project you may have in mind, or even for use or under your weekend-run club loco. The new improved power bogie is designed for locos and trams that require a lower overall profile to sit below the chassis.
We decided to incorporate the industry standard 750watt DC motor in order to give 1 hp per bogie. The drive train uses industrial taper lock sprockets complete with keyways where appropriate and CNC wheels and axles supported by self aligning roller bearings. This represents a cut above many competitive product offerings which commonly use locotite press fits, which rarely stand the test of time. Die spring suspension makes for a smooth ride under most track conditions, with the highly desirable option of being able to change hardness depending on loco weight.
- Length: 600mm / 23"
- Width: 320mm / 13"
- Height: 160mm / 6"
- Weight (estimated) 50kg / 110Ibs
- Pivot pin diamter: 20mm
Laser cut components ensure accuracy and alignment and the new PNP vacuum brake option creates a simple and reliable parking brake at an affordable extra price.
Unpowered version
We also supply this bogie as unpowered, meaning you will get a bogie that looks just like the one in the picture but without the drive system. This is ideal for locos intended for lighter use with the cost saving another consideration. Non-motor braking options can also be applied to the unpowered version.
Braking
The motor can be used for regenerative braking through 4QD controllers or equivalent, and also we also intend to offer the bogie with cable, vac or air brake options in the fulness of time. - please contact us to discuss.
Intended use
This loco is designed for hobbyist or light commercial use. The loco has not been designed with the intention of daily use and the components have not been specified or designed to be used on a daily basis. The electronics are water resistant and care has been taken to reduce water ingress, however the product is not sold as waterproof and use in rain is at the risk of the operator. If you are looking for a “commercial” locomotive for daily use please consult our larger more industrially built locos and please do not hesitate to contact us to discuss your requirements.
Making a purchase
This listing is for one bogie, select your options for braking from the drop down menu. You may also contact us for large orders and specific requirements or modifications required for your rolling stock. Defective items will be repaired/replaced up to one year from the date of sale - damage caused through improper use is not covered by this guarantee.
Monitoring and maintaining your Bogie
The bogie comes with completely sealed roller bearings meaning no greasing is required. It is however recommended that the bogie is periodically inspected to ensure there is still free movement of the wheelset and that the electrical & electronic systems function correctly. The drive chains should be inspected before each use to ensure they are not slack, rather they should deflect to the touch freely. If in doubt please contact us directly. MRW holds no liability beyond the value of the product supplied. For full details of our terms and conditions please consult our terms and conditions on this website.
