A complete starter set to create your own miniature railway with a loop of 7 1/4" Gauge 4.5M / 14'9" portable track alongside a Neptune locomotive and driving truck.

A complete starter set to create your own miniature railway with a ready to lay loop of 7 1/4" Gauge 4.5M / 14'9" portable track complete with two standard straight sections, alongside an AME Neptune locomotive and driving truck.

Our ( S ) radius curve is a very tight radius curve and is designed for temporary use in back gardens and confined areas where space is at a premium. These panels allow you to build a railway in almost any confined space with ease. We would not recommend these curves for regular commercial/public railways as there is an increased risk of derailments with this tight radius - use in these environments is purely at the operator's discretion. They are however ideal for a back garden setup or even for use inside with family and friends.

Our 7 1/4" inch gauge portable points are tried, tested and trusted by hobbyists and commercial operators alike, so if you are looking for an entire railway ready to run, this is an excellent starter package to opt for with option of expansion at a later date. For more information on points please contact us directly.

Total Track Weight: 140kg (approx)
Rail material: Hollow box steel (25x25x2mm)
Sleepers: Solid recycled plastic

As these curves are very tight in nature we do not recommend them for long wheelbase locomotives or stock. We have successfully used an Abbots Neptune 3 which has a fixed wheelbase of 0-6-0 without any derailments or significant immediate wear on this radius but would warn that regular very heavy daily use  may cause excessive wear to the wheelsets and rail due to the tight nature of the curve.

Create your own miniature railway with a ready to lay loop of 7 1/4" Gauge  4.5M / 14'9" radius loop of track complete with two standard straight sections. This is the perfect starter set to build up from with points soon to be available in this radius.

Track sections may come with joiners removed to keep down postage costs. To attach these you will simply need a 10mm spanner and 4mm allen key are needed to assemble the joiner to the rail. This is only required to be done on first installation; the joiner may remain with the rail throughout use.

A standard track section weighs 6.9kg and requires careful handling to avoid injury. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)  should be used when laying or moving portable Jubilee Track, for more advice please refer to  the ‘Operating Instructions for laying Jubilee Track’ the full version can be found on MRW website.

As standard all MRW Jubilee track panels are widened by 2.3mm [ 3/32" ] this allows for curves to be joined to straights. This widening is within the 7 1/4" gauge standards and should not adversely affect running.

Locomotive

The locomotive is a tried and tested Abbots Model Engineering Neptune 3. An 0-6-0 shunter, suited for tighter curves, the Neptune 3 made right here in the UK offers good value and reliability. Also available are upgrades such as the cranks and rods, which turn as the locomotive progresses and make the engine look more dynamic and convincing. For the full effect, why not add the excellent Mtroniks diesel engine sound system that changes pitch with the locomotive's speed? Only available with a 5% discount in this starter set! For full product information, see our Neptune 3 product listing:-https://www.miniaturerailwayworkshop.com/product-page/neptune-3-ready-to-run-0-6-0-loco-for-miniature-railways

Riding Truck

No locomotive is complete without something to pull. A 5' driving truck is an excellent combination between value, function and manageable size, allowing 3 adults including the driver to sit behind the loco.
