The General Utility Van was a concept of parcels van developed for use transporting luggage, parcels and even vehicles, They could be seen in a 4 wheel variety or as in this case a boggied coach. The basic design for this vehicle had existed since the dawn of railways but was refined by the Southern and GWR before British Railways formed a standard type.

There are many GUV's still in existence on preserved railways around the UK and they could often be seen included in many different train formations. The GUV makes the perfect driving wagon for any BR build diesel locomotive and we are very pleased with using it behind the Class 20 we have here at MRW.
